Leadership Development Conferences and Workshops

A question from a reader:

I am curious, have you done any posts on the best leadership development conferences for professionals in the field? There seem to be a lot out there and am just wondering how we can maximize our time and resources.
Thanks!

I have not, but I've been meaning to put together a list for a while now, so thanks for providing the motivation.

When it comes to conferences for leadership development professionals, it's going to be a short list. There are LOT'S of leadership conferences (I just wrote a post on the GILD), and plenty others for HR and training, but not so many that I'm aware of for just our field. When I searched for "workshops" or "Talent Management", I was able to find a few more.

Dan,
Do you know anything about The Leadership Challenge Forum? http://www.leadershipchallenge.com/WileyCDA/Section/id-324100.html It is here in Chicago next month. I'm considering going to it, but it is the same dates as the WillowCreak Leadership Summit http://www.willowcreek.com/events/leadership/2009/. Two great leadership conferences, two days, one city.

Dan, you speak to highly of The Conference Board, if only you knew how the staff is treated. The CEO, CFO & CDO are all new to TCB and are firing women and african americans. I worked there about a year and was FIRED 2 WEEKS AGO, The Ceo has ordered staff NOT to talk about what is happening and he fired a complete dept. kept his FRIEND WHOM HE HIRED ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO, AN AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMEN WHO HAS BEEN THERE FOR 10 YEARS. SO MUCH IS GOING ON THERE THAT IF THE PUBLIC KNEW THEY WOULD NOT BE A MEMBER. SO BE VERY CAREFUL PRAISING TCB.

Dan,

I attended Linkage's Best Practices in Leadership Development conference last year in Palm Springs, CA. I found the conference to be informative and enjoyable. I'm not sure whether I'll be able to attend this year's Linkage conference in San Diego, but folks should give the conference brochure a look-see.

Dan, just started reading your blog and find it very informative - thanks! Another conference to consider is the Maximum Impact Simulcast, a 1-day leadership conference in Atlanta that is broadcast to 400 host sites throughout the country. It was founded by author John Maxwell. Pretty cool because it allows you to attend a large conference or host it as private training within your company. www.maximumimpactsimulcast.com
